Chasing Sunset | Pantai Bama, Taman Nasional Baluran

We spent our last night in Banyuwangi by staying at a guest house in Pantai Bama (Bama Beach). We brought our tent to camp at Ijen, but people are not allowed to camp inside Taman Nasional Baluran (Baluran National Park) area. Baluran has a campsite but it's so far from the beach and savanna. We also planned to have night safari, chase sunset and sunrise at Bama Beach.

Pantai Bama is still located in Baluran National Park, Banyuwangi. It's not the wavy type of beach with soft white sands. To see the sunset, we have to swim to the snorkeling spot.

Sometimes it feels like a trip is complete by chillin' a beach haha
that's the mangrove forest
feel the breeeeeze
Are you... are you... coming to the tree?

I feel like to play with that swing and sing "I came in like a wreeeecking ball!"
It's so calm until the wild monkey attacked our tree

A Walk To | Taman Nasional Baluran, Banyuwangi

After trekking Ijen, we went to Taman Nasional Baluran (Baluran National Park), about two hours driving from Ijen. It has a relatively dry climate and mainly consists of dry savanna, lowland forests, mangrove forests, hills, and beaches. That's why it's called as "African van Java" :D

They called it "Bekol Savanna". That diagonal line is the path to Bama Beach. This photo is taken from the viewing tower

It is easier to find the wild animals like peacock, deer, buffalo, monkeys, fishing cat, and even leopard during the dry season. Unfortunately, that noon we only saw very few animals. Our guide suggest to have a night safari to Bekol savanna. We bring our tent but the campsite is quite far (across the front gate) and it's not allowed to camp in savanna nor the beach due to the wild animals' activity at night. So, we decided to stay in a guest house in Bama Beach.

I called it Baluran's signature tree :P
and also signature buffalo skulls :P

oh how I love fresh Kodak Gold haha

We sit on the top of the hardtop car - feels like a ranger and yes we saw more wild animals at night! But I really suggest you to do safari in the morning. We saw many many more animals on the path, they gathered to have 'breakfast'! haha. I saw peacocks chasing each other, October is the mating season for peacocks in Baluran :P

wild buffalo. I was lucky to see this. Most of my friends who have visited Baluran felt disappoint because they only saw few animals
cute deer colony

I'll write more post about Bama Beach :D

2015

I am so thankful what I've gone through in 2014.

How was your 2014? Well, like a wise man said "Today, is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Let's write a good one."
Happy new year everyone!

PS: I used to spent new year's eve by staying at home, but this year will be different (I'm not writing a blog post on NYE, it's a pre-schedule post haha).
